Sydney bot. Gardens
16. April 1857.
Sir
I do myself the honor of transmitting to your office the maps of Mr Gregorys exploring track and the corresponding reports.

Presumably a MS copy of B58.05.01, and copies of Gregory's maps and reports of which M had earlier sent copies to Kew (see M to W. Hooker, 13 March 1857).
I should consider it a particular favour, if you would obligingly furnish me with the documents bearing upon the recent geographical discoveries in your colony, particularly with a tracing of Mr Babbage's track about Lake Torrens, in order to enable me to complet a historical review of the explorations in Australia, which I am preparing for the Melbourne philos. Institute.

your most obedient servant
