My dear Sir,
I enclose the photographs of the and one of my wintergarden.
1
Photographs not found.
I have given over to my London agents to pay to you £15—, which they will do at the end of the month, when other payments will be due in London.
The photographs have been made in a hurry, else they would have been better, – the old brick wall ought to have been covered so that with a little background the big mass would have appeared still better, — However, I think it will do. As soon as I see your article and the way how you express yourself about the plant and how it came into my possession I shall send photographs to André for the Illustration horticole
2
No article on this has been found in L'illustration horticole, edited by Édouard André; the journal had however given extensive coverage to the species in articles in 1870: see M to E. André, December 1869 (in this edition as 69-12-00d).
and to Morren for the Belgique horticole

An article, with an uncoloured plate appeared in Belqique horticole, vol. 22, 1872, pp. 257-9. It contained the statement 'Le spécimen que nous représentons ici, d'apres une photographie, est le plus fort qui soit en Europe; il se trouve dans la magnifique Jarden d'hiver de notre ami M. John Booth, à Flottbeck, près de Hambourg, qui l'a reçu, comme tous ceux qui ont été introduits, du célébre botaniste de Melbourne, le commandeur baron Ferdinand von Mueller.' [The specimen that we represent here, from a photograph, is the largest in Europe; it is in the magnificent Winter Garden of our friend Mr John Booth, at Flottbeck, near Hamburg, who received it, like all those that have been introduced, from the celebrated botanist of Melbourne, Commander Baron Ferdinand von Mueller.]
as well as to Regel St Peterburg to blow Müllers trumpet. So I think this affair settled, can I do anything for you in Vienna please tell me. I leave this evening, direct letters to Hamburgh as usual, they are forwarded at once.
As soon as I know how you express yourself I send the photographs to the gentlemen mentioned.
Very sincerely yours
John Booth
