[The manuscript of this paper was posted in Melbourne on 21 September this year. As
Baron Ferdinand von Mueller died on 9 October,
this paper from this excellent and meritorious researcher is no doubt the last publication
that will be brought before the public by a specialist journal. In the accompanying
letter the author informs us, that he had the intention of sending us several papers
on new drugs from New Guinea. He had to relinquish this intention, however, as the
large consignment went to the bottom on the way with the damaged ship.
At the end of his kind letter Baron Ferd. von Mueller sends his sincere regards to
his homeland, to the Allgemeiner österreichischen Apotheker-Verein, and to his colleagues
in Vienna, and wishes that our journal may grow and prosper in the second half-century
of its existence.]
