Dear Mrs Ryan
Your kind letter was received this day as well as the box & parcel of dried plants
I am all the more beholden to you as you have been ill so long let me hope that a
recovery of your health will be speedy & lasting. I shall examine the specimens carefully
& let you know the result. It was particularly kind of you to obtain even specimens
from N. W. Australia it seems that you will leave for Eucla
if so will you kindly try to interest someone else there in collecting plants although
the immediate neighbourhood of your harbour may be poor in vegetation yet a large
number of species particularly minute kinds are sure to exist more inland the boundary
line is so important for botanical searches as it effects two colonies.

WA. Ryan moved from Israelite Bay, WA, to Eucla in 1895; see Maroske & Vaughan (2014).
With regardful remembrance
Your
Ferd. von Mueller
P.S. The land plants near Swan River
have during the last 60 years become well known so that I should require from there
only seaweeds.
