It is the native hop or . It is a native of Victoria, Tasmania, and New South Wales. The foliage is very bitter and has pronounced medicinal properties, so that this remedy (for hydatids) should be used with great caution. The Government of one of our colonies has forbidden the use of this plant as a substitute for hops on account of deleterious action having arisen from the use of its foliage.
