Letter not found. The text given here is from ‘An old friend of the Baron: Interview with Mr. F. E. H. W. Krichauff’, South Australian register, 12 October 1896, p. 7. It is introduced by '"There's the Baron’s last letter to me," said Mr. Krichauff, at the same time handing it to the reporter. "Am I to read it?" queried the scribe. "Well, it's in German," replied Mr. Krichauff, with a smile.'
[He wrote to me on August 29 offering phylloxera vine resisting seeds from America.]

The report continues: 'I apprised the Bureau [i.e. the Central Bureau of Agriculture of South Australia] of this at the next meeting, and it was decided that I should accept the offer, which I did [Krichauff's letter not found]. After I asked for those seeds I could not understand why I never got them, but the Baron must have been ill then, and that is why I have not heard any more about the matter.'
