26/7/96.
Kindly say, dear Mr Macdonald, whether you received also the volume of the recent geographic Congress in Rome.
1
Second Italian Geographical Congress, held in Rome , 22- 27 September 1895. Macdonald and M , but no others with an Australian address, are listed among the 259 individuals or organizations registered for the C ongress , but are not shown among the 134 attending ( Atti del Secondo Congresso Geografico Italiano , 1896, allegato n. 9, p. xxxix).
I have some idea, that we both subscribed to this Congress, but am not sure. I think you did, but perhaps none of our Colleagues of the Council. You would then of course be entitled to your copy.
I met the Governor at the Prahran Ball,

when he said that on arrival of the antarctic party we would be invited to the "Sunbeam".

The private yacht of the then Governor of Victoria, Lord Brassey.
Let me hope, that you are happy and well.
With regardful remembrance your
