Wenn ich auch oft an Sie denke, hochverehrter Freund, zumal wenn mir spanische Pflanzen vorliegen, so habe ich Sie doch nicht zwecklos stören wollen durch meine Zuschriften. Nun aber bietet sich eine besondere Gelegenheit, mich Ihnen zu nahen, in dem ich über Erechtites Muelleri weitere Auskunft geben möchte. Ich halte diese Ihre Art für eine gute Species, kann aber die ursprüngliche Beschreibung nicht auffinden in den engen Räumlichkeiten, welche so überhäuft sind. Vielleicht haben Sie noch ein Stück der original Pflanze abzugeben auch noch ein Exemplar der Drukschrift abzulassen. Sonst genügt auch wohl die Abschrift Ihrer Diagnose, dann ein Capitulum u. ein Blatt.

Tief bedaure ich, dass Ihre Sehkraft schwer gelitten hat durch die viel-jährigen anstrengenden Studien. Hoffentlich haben Sie einen liebevollen Familienkreis in welchem Sie wehrend

However, now a particular opportunity offers itself to approach you, in which I would like to give further information about . I regard this species of yours as a good species but cannot find the original description

J. Lange (1861), pp. 28-9; a copy was sent with M to G. Bentham, 23 February 1867, but it has not been found at Kew.

in the cramped spaces that are piled so high. Perhaps you still have a piece of the original plant to give away, even a copy of the paper to give out. Otherwise the copy of your diagnosis probably will also suffice, then a head and a leaf.

I deeply regret that your vision has suffered severely through the many years of taxing study.

Lange had been suffering problems for some years; see M to J. Lange, 5 September 1893.

It is to be hoped you have a loving family circle in which you are cared for during the autumn of your life.

Also for me the late evening of life approaches, since in 1897 I shall celebrate my 50-year doctoral jubilee, should Divine Providence preserve my earthly existence so long.
