Thinking over our pleasant conversation, honored Sir, it occurs to me, that it would
also be recommendable to obtain from time to time some copies of the two parts of
the "Key to the System of Vict. Plants"
for your litterary interchanges.
In this work is also my simplified and emended Candollean System.
Besides it is the only extensive work, hitherto emanating anywhere, in which the
dichotomous mode for characteristics is unbrokenly carried through from the commencement
of the Orders to the end of the species. It is also quite original in several other
respects in dealing systematically with nearly 2000 species of indigenous plants.

The Library Committee agreed on 28 May 1896 that copies of the work should be obtained,
and on 8 September, 200 copies were requested.
