As your professional position honored Sir, necessitates some attention of your's also
to the native vegetation, I would beg of you to aid me locally by your gathering specimens
of any kinds of indigenous plants, the minutest species and also floating weeds included.
I need them from far inland localities of your's more particularly also for tracing
from such material the geographic distribution of various species and new medicinal
plants would thus also most likely be discovered. You would get full credit for your
contributions in my works
Fruiting (seeding) specimens are as valuable as flowering, and the sending can best
be effected after the plants are pressed and dried, by ordinary post as samples in
1 lb package's successively. I would willingly send you seeds of economic plants,
of shade trees, or of garden flowers in return
Regardfully yours
Ferd von Mueller.
Kindly make known my wishes to any colleagues of your's.
