Hierbei sende Ich Ihnen einige Samen (in den Früchten) des , geehrter Herr Professor, und ersuche ich Sie, mir mitzutheilen, ob es die ächte A. semibaccatum ist, der dort so gross Dienste auf Alkali-Land leistet.

Da ich nun in der Bibliothek der Akademie von San Francisco die Decaden der "Salsolaceous plants" completirt habe, sollte es für unseren Freund, Dr Behr und Sie leicht sein, etwaige Unrichtigkeiten in den Benennungen, unter welchen dort Salsolaceen cultivirt wurden, zu berichtigen. Sie würden mir dann doch gewiss gleich die Auskunft geben oder geben lassen.

Von Ihren Bulletins habe ich seit lange Zeits nichts mehr erhalten.

Enclosed I am sending you some seeds (in the fruits) of , esteemed Professor, and I request you to tell me whether it is the genuine A. semibaccatum, that gives such good service on the alkali land there.

Since I have now completed the decades of the Salsolaceous plants in the library of the academy of San Francisco, it should be easy for our friend, Dr Behr, and you to correct possible errors in the nomenclature under which were cultivated there. You would then undoubtedly give or have me given the information immediately .

In M to E. Hilgard, 11 January 1896 (in this edition as 96-01-11a), M asked for clarification of the species being cultivated, and announced that the missing parts of Iconography of Australian salsolaceous plants would be sent.

For a long time I have received nothing more of your Bulletins.
