MS is stamped: 'Town Council Warrnambool 25/2/96'. Council minutes and the Warrnambool standard reported the receipt of M's letter. The Standard specifically mentioned that M's letter was addressed to Scoborio. The Council agreed
to inform M that it would endeavour to comply with his request; see minute book 14,
p. 371, 25 February 1896, Town Council records, City of Warrnambool archives, and
Warrnambool standard, 27 February 1896, p. 2).
For reply, see H. Lawson to M, 26 February 1896 (in this edition as 96-02-26a).
Would it be possible, honored Sir, to obtain seeds from your Marram-plantation this
autumn, as I wish to send some to a distant country.
I can send you some shrub- and tree-seeds in return, and may have other seeds, which
would prove acceptable to you.
Respectfully
your Ferd von Mueller
