Letter written in another hand and signed by M. There is another letter in Wittrock's archive with the salutation 'Honored Sir' (M. to V. Wittrock, 27 August 1894 (in this edition as 94-08-27b)); it too was written by another hand, and also has the appearance of a circular letter sent to Directors of Gardens requesting seed exchanges.

Honored Sir
Should you have from the last gatherings in your garden, seeds of any pasture grasses and fodder herbs, exclusive of such as are already of world-wide culture, then I should feel much indebted to you for a small supply for test-culture in this colony. Australian seeds will be sent in reciprocation
Regardfully yours
Baron Von Mueller
