— It is the , the "native weeping grass." It is," says Baron Von Mueller, "indigenously restricted to Continental extratropic Australia and New Zealand. It is one of the best grasses we have, although not a bulky kind, as it will keep green all the year round, and as pasture animals will relish it. Among grasses, which would best cope with the bracken fern are the cocksfoot grass and the Yorkshire fog grass, but other sorts of English and other grasses might also experimentally be sown, besides seeds of perennial pasture herbs recognised as nutritious. Under the best of arrangements the bracken fern may continue more or less overpowering to the upgrowth of other vegetation, and repeated burning off and even lifting of the roots may be needed to got rid of the fern.]
