My dear Baron,
Your letter re
Claudea
was duly received.
You may rest assured that should this plant ever turn up again your remarks and requirements
will be strictly attended to. Our dredging trips are, however so few & far between,
from the want of funds that it must be some time before any reasonable chance occurs.
The original examples were examined by our Mr. T. Whitelegge, who is no mean Cryptogamic
Botanist, but he failed to find any in a state of fructification. Rest assured the
matter shall not be lost sight of. What about Mr Fitzgerald?
Have his researches come to an end?

Probably William Fitzgerald.
Faithfully yrs,
R. Etheridge
Baron Sir F. von Mueller M.D, K.C.M.G., F.R.S, &c
Melbourne.
