The name of the yellow-flowered herb, sent by you, dear Mr Stone, is . The Euphrasias have some medicinal value and are not wholesome for pasturage, but are not really counted as poison-plants. If however they become gregarious anywhere, they may become very unwholesome. As these kind of plants are weak, they soon get overpowered by our best pasture-grasses and fodder-herbs, so that the sowing of such on scarified ground, where Euprasias grow, is recommendable, and this should be done, so soon as the summerheat has passed. Possibly in the locality, where the Euphrasia occurs, real poison-plants may also exist.
