In reply to your letter, just received, dear Mr Dowden, let me say, that I received
a large new volume some months ago from its author Prof Hedgar Wallace
on Agriculture,
in exchange of which I wished him to receive the "Select Plants."

Hedger-Wallace (1895).
It is strange, that he could not be found in Edinburgh, but perhaps he may again have
gone to India. If you will let me have the copy of the "Select Plants," intended for
him, I can send it to Prof Balfour, FR.S., my correspondent in Edinburgh, who could
easily find out where Prof Wallace at present lives, and send him the book.

The library, which was responsible for distributing government publications, forwarded
a copy of B95.08.04 to M on 20 December 1895.
Very regardfully your
Ferd von Mueller.
