which lasted already 3 years, and from which our Colony is now only emerging gradually, the retrenchment in my even formerly small establishment has been so extensive, that I could bring out no more lithographic plates, since the first Decade of the "Candolleaceous Plants" appeared.

The Government Printing Office has neither any special funds for work of this kind.
So soon as new means from an increasing revenue can be obtained, I hope to resume the lithographic work only. Privately I would suggest, that some Bookseller in Adelaide kept the "Select Plants" for sale available. I have no monetary interest in the work, and it ought to sell extensively also throughout S.A. Altho' the 9th edition

has been considerably enlarged, its price is only 5/. Can you perhaps bring about that some Adelaide Bookseller obtains from the Gov. Printing Office here the new edition in commission for sale
ought to become one of the most important timber trees of Central Australia by extensive dissemination in sandy regions. It would be interesting to ascertain, what there and elsewhere the rate of its growth may be. If you at any time have some seeds of it, I should be thankful for a supply of some.
