Am not certain, dear Mr Gill, whether among the multitudinous felicitation at my entering the 8th Decade of my life, I did acknowledge in due gratitude also yours.

If in the turmoil of heavy official work all through July I omitted to express my thanks to so genial friend as yourself, you will know that it was not an intentional shortcoming. Let me hope, that far in the next century you will celebrate festively also the reaching of the 3 scores and ten.
A lot of arrear-work, concerning bot. specimens to be named, will now soon be brought up, so also yours after now the enlarged ninth edition of the Select plants

is through the press. The Gov. Printing Office provides this book at cost-price, and Ruralists also in S.A. would do well to send for it, as it can always be [sold] for the 5/ it costs. Why does not some Adelaide Bookseller "keep it in stock" I have no financial interest in the work. If at any time you have fresh seeds of Casuarina Descaisneana to spare think kindly of me!
