My dear Baron Von Mueller
I forward you for identification & report as to its value as a fodder plant, the enclosed which grows luxuriantly on the flooded flats of the Murray River. I have known it to be submerged for a period of three or four months at a time without being affected by the water: in fact it seems to thrive whilst under a good body of water & when it recedes there is a dense sward of grass about eighteen inches high, green all the summer — Stock seem to relish it fairly well —. To me it looks like a species of Buffalo grass & grows very similarly. I presume it would stand transplanting?
with kind regards
I am yours Truly.
