.— S.S., Castlemaine, writes: —"Last July I planted a few roots of this and several other grasses as a trial in good forest soil,
but deficient in phosphates; this has made far away the most vigorous growth. None
of them were grazed by cattle, and this sample was quite fresh and green when taken
up last week." Referring to the above, Baron von Mueller favors us with the following
