It is not clear how much of the article is a paraphrase of M's text and how much is editorial comment. The article continues:

Die Ortsbehörden daselbst, welche diese Anpflanzungen ausführen liessen, verdienen für ihren Eifer und ihre dabei bewiesene Beharrlichkeit in der Ausführung dieses herrlichen wie überaus nützlichen Werkes, die wüsten Sandküsten in nutzliche Dauerwiesen verwandelt zu haben, die höchste lobende Anerkennung. Damit aber ist wiederum der Beweis geliefert, dass die Möglichkeit vorliegt, alle Sandküsten Australiens mit einer grünen, nützlichen Pflanzendecke zu überziehen. Der Stadtrat daselbst hat eben ein Anerbieten angenommen, 40 Tonnen Wurzel-Pflanzen des Marram Grases auszuheben, welche für Auspflanzung in diesem Herbste bestellt sind. Wahrlich, nützlichere und grössere Werke kann eine Ortsbehörde, als die genannte, nicht ausführen, welche ihren dauernden Segen für alle Zeiten verbreiten! Ueberall in Australien sollte zu solchen Anpflanzungen recht dringend ermuntert werden und die Regierungen Belohnungen zur Ermunterung dazu aussetzen. Aber man sollte auch nicht vergessen, dass wir die Einführung dieses herrlichen und nützlichen Grases und die Ermunterung seines Anbaues Herrn Baron von Müller zu danken haben. Wenn nach dem Koran der hoch gewiesen werden soll, welcher "einen Grashalm mehr erzeugte": wie gross muss dann der Dank sein, den wir diesem geehrten Herrn, nicht für die Einführung dieses Grases allein, schulden. Möchte das doch recht lebhaft und recht allgemein erkannt werden!'

[The local authorities in that place, who had this planting carried out, deserve the highest commendatory acknowledgment for their enthusiasm and their persistance shown in the execution of this magnificent as well extremely useful work, having transformed the desolate sandy coast into useful permanent pasture. But in addition, proof is again given that the possibility exists of covering all the sandy coasts of Australia with a useful green plant cover. The town council there has just accepted an offer to trench 40 tons of root plants of the marram grass, which have been ordered for planting this autumn. Truly a local authority cannot carry out a more useful and greater work than the above, which will spread its lasting blessings for all time. Everywhere in Australia such planting should be very stongly urged and the governments should offer payments for the encouragement of it. But we should also not forget that we have to thank the introduction of this magnificent and useful grass and encouragement of its cultivation to Baron von Mueller. If according to the Qur'an he who produces a blade of grass more shall be looked highly upon, how great must the thanks then be, not for the introduction of this grass alone, that we owe this esteemed gentleman. May it be recognised very warmly and generally.]
