Am quite touched, honored friend, with sending the memorial-medal of your celebrated
father. It will be preserved with my best treasures such as the Royal Medal of the
R.S. of London, and will be honored also by my heirs, when I shall have passed away!
The portrait of your illustrious parent in my study-room reminds me daily of him.

No image of either Candolle has been identified at MEL, but see M to J. Haast, 29 July 1862 (in this edition as
62-07-29b) and notes thereto.
I have some hope, that the lithograms of Candolleaceous plants will soon be continued.
I am now anxious to get the drawings done, so that somewhat later, when funds will
become available, quickly the lithography can be proceeded with. My phytographic work
had however largely to be laid aside during the last 3 years so that still more time
could be devoted to the
rural
interests in this time of financial depression here.

M's hopes came to nothing, no further Decades of his
Iconography of Candolleaceous plants
were published after the first (B92.13.02).
The nineth edition of the "Select plants," again considerably augmented will be commenced
to be printed next month,
so that it can appear still in 1895. With regardful and grateful remembrance
