2/1/95.
It is with much regret, dear Mr Sinclair, that I hear of the cause, which induced
Dr Ramsay to withraw from the Curatorship of Your great Museum,
and I beg of you, to convey to him my sincere sympathy.
1
Ramsay had been in declining health for some time. In mid-1894 he was granted six
months' leave on half pay from his position as Curator of the Australian Museum, before
resigning the curatorship at the end of the year.
It is pleasing that the Trustees have appointed so able a Successor, and I would ask
you to give my felicitation to Mr Etheridge.

Robert Etheridge Jr.
In 1895 I hope to be able to contribute again to the Library of the Museum by new
publications of mine under [progress], but in 1894 I could not finish off any large
work, as nearly all my time had to be given up to the practical rural and manufacturing
interest at this period of financial depression of the colony.
With best new years greeting your
Ferd von Mueller
