The address suggests that these seeds were sent to William Guilfoyle rather than M,
as indeed they may have been. However, elsewhere in these records, seeds are recorded
unequivocally as having been received from M, but his address is given as the Melbourne
Botanic Garden, indicating that the people at Berkeley were unaware of M’s situation
vis-à-vis the Botanic Garden. See M to the University of California, July 1894 (in
