Letter not found. The text given here is from the minutes of meeting of the Port Fairy Borough Council held on 9 January 1895, 'correspondence inward'. The minutes reported: 'To be attended to'. The local press gave a fuller summary of M's letter than the minutes: 'From Baron
Von Mueller, stating he had been requested by the hon. the Premier to obtain a quantity
of marum [i.e. marram] grass seedlings for shipment to the Government of India, and asking
the council to supply the requirement' (Port Fairy gazette, 11 January 1895, p. 2).
