Dear Sir F. v. Mueller
I have just received your kind letter,
covering the letter from the Director of the Royal Botanic Society of Ratisbon, informing
me of my election to a corresponding membership of that Society. I desire to express
warmly my sense of your generous kindness in interesting yourself in this matter.
I regret to say that I cannot correspond in the German Language, and should be glad
to know whether it is most fitting to address personally a letter of thanks to the
Society, or, as the Diploma has come through you, to ask you, when next writing, to
convey my high sense of the honour done me, and my grateful thanks for the same.
I fear I cannot supply any specimens of Algs until my next dredging season is over.
I have kept only the specimens needed to assist in identification.
