I beg to inform you that the plant of which you sent a flowering branchlet, is the South American Tree Tobacco, . I would urge that this dangerous plant be not allowed to get naturalised as it is poisonous to pasture animals which are apt to browse on the foliage should feed be scarce. The danger from this plant is increased as it seeds very copiously, and the seeds germinate easily. Old plants should be uprooted and seedlings be pulled out of the ground, and the dislodged plants immediately be burnt, so that they cannot ripen seeds still while lying on the ground.
