Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Country districts. Shepparton, Aug. 6', in Australasian, 11 August 1894, p. 227. The item continues: ‘This year the sw amp y land promise s to bea r an unusually large proportion to the whole, as so far the rainfall has been exceptionally heavy, and settled weather seems as far off as ever. As to the grasses, it is to be regretted that the number of land holders dis posed to make experiments, c are fully n o ting results and reporting them, is s m al l.’
[Baron Von Mueller has forwarded Mr. Gregson a l arge collection of I ndian grass seeds. The g rasses i n question are supposed to flourish in swampy land and sho uld be valuable in the l ow-lying parts of the district, notably ab out Loch Garry .
