My dear Sir F. v. Mueller
By this day's post I send a few specimens of . My object is to show that in its young state the leaves are often convex pointed like and that the young plants we so often meet with on our coast are young not .
I found the male flower on several occasions and in several localities but it was too late in the season to get the anther perfect — In all cases it had discharged the pollen and become reduced to the broad filament and fragments of connective —
I can now recognise the male flower on a plant even at some distance and hope to get some early next season in good condition for examination — I am rejoiced to know that the algs I sent will be of some service to you.
Believe me
Yours very sincerely
J Bracebridge Wilson
