I have the honor to inform you that His Excellency the Governor in Council has been
pleased to retain your services as Government Botanist until the 31st December 1894.

On 29 May 1894, the Chief Secretary, J. Patterson, had recommended to the Governor in Council the continued employment of M, the Government Astronomer Robert Ellery, and the Government Statist, Henry Hayter. Approval was granted the same day. A certificate
continuing the employment of these three until 31 December 1894, dated 28 May, was signed by the members of the Public Service Board and and sent to the Premier
(Y94/3972, unit 818, VPRS 3992/P, Public Record Office, Victoria).
