Diesmal schreibe ich nur, um Ihnen mitzutheilen, hochgeehrter Freund, dass ich mit dieser Wochen-Post eine Scheibe aus dem Stamm eines Nuytsia-Baumstamms Ihnen zugesandt habe, da Sie die Structur des Holzes eines Loranthaceen-Baums interessieren wird. Ich will Ihnen keine Zeit rauben mit dieser Sache, doch wird Ihnen willkommen sein solch ein Stück für Ihre cytologische Sammlung. macht subterrane Schössling aus der Wurzel, welche nicht an Wurzeln anderer Pflanzen für Nahrung anhaften, aber es lieben in Trümmern von Pflanzentheilen verschiedener Art zu wachsen. So wird es wohl auch mit sein. Ich könnte einen noch grösseren Durchschnitt vom Stamm einer Nuytsia erwerben, da in einigen entlegenen Gegenden West-Australiens der Stamm einen Fuss Durchmesser erreicht. Vielleicht möchten Sie aber doch einem Ihrer Studenten dies Original-Material zur Untersuchung übergeben.

This time I am just writing to inform you, highly esteemed Friend, that I have sent you by this week's mail a slice from the trunk of a Nuytsia tree, since the structure of the wood of a tree will interest you. I do not want to rob you of any time in this matter, but such a piece will be welcome to you for your cytological collection. makes subterranean shoots from the root that are not attached to roots of other plants for nourishment but prefer to grow in remains of plant parts of different species. Thus it will also probably be with . I could get an even larger section of the trunk of a Nuytsia, since in some remote regions of West Australia the trunk reaches a foot in diameter. Perhaps, however, you might like to give this original material to one of your students for investigation.
