This undated fragment is dated to late April 1894 on the basis of M's letter to Williamson, 19 April 1894 (in this edition as 94-04-19b), saying that he would welcome Algae.
It is very pleasing to me, dear Mr Williamson, that you will gather occasionally seaweeds for me. A little of each sort, merely dried on shelves will suffice after a storm, when the Algs are yet fresh and unbleached. Perhaps you are not a great distance from the nearest part of the coast.
Regardfully your
Ferd. von Mueller
You must not omit to collect and press and dry all kinds of fresh-water-weeds
