Mueller has written to Mr. W. Webb naturalist, of Albany, with regard to Marram grass
as follows:'
Mail steamers took about a week from Melbourne to Albany, for example Oruba cleared out of Melbourne 3 February 1894, and arrived 10 February, and very early
February as the latest date that the letter could have been written
If you asked, probable
the Resident Magistrate at King George's Sound would engage you after Easter to plant
Marram grass on the shifting sand of the coast. Arrangements could be made easily
here to send tons of weight of plants at the commencement of the cool season ready
for planting out. The Hon. the Premier and the Hon. the Minister of Lands would be
sure to be in favour of such an arrangement with you.

sand dunes at Port Fairy, including the quotation that is the source of S. Avery to
M, 18 November 1893 (in this edition as 93-11-18b).
