Ich fühle, hochgeehrter Herr Stephani, dass ich Ihnen meinen besonderen Dank für die herrliche Biographie aussprechen muss, welche Sie über den ausgezeichneten Gottsche geliefert haben. Ich selbst bin ganz stolz darauf, mit diesem Grossmeister für die Erweiterung der Jungermanniaceen Kunde in Bezug auf Australien etwas zusammen gewirkt zu haben.
In den bedrängten Zeiten hier habe ich weder aus öffentlichen noch aus Privat Mitteln einen Sammler im Felde halten können; so konnte ich auch Ihnen in letzter Zeit wenig liefern. Mr. J. B. Moore ist aber eben wieder in den westlichen Alpen Tasmaniens, u. wird dort auch wohl für Sie noch etwas Neues finden.

In the desperate times here I have not been able to keep a collector in the field either from official or from private funds, so I could also send you little in recent times. Mr J. B. Moore, however, is just again in the western alps of Tasmania and will probably also yet find something new for you there.

Despite this reminder, M and Tate were able to include only the phanerogams and vascular cryptogams in their report on the botany of the Elder Expedition (B96.14.02). However, J. Müller (1892) on the Lichens was republished, as J. Mueller (1893a), in the same issue of the Transactions of the Royal Society of South Australia as their report.
