This is a mark of honor to
our branch
from the great home-society, dear Mr Macdonald, not to me personally, and should cheer
us all
on in our work.
Could the Rev Mr Potter get me an interview with Mr Giles?
I shall be very thankful for your putting me in oral communication with Rev. Mr King.
You will find Mr Hobson at the Australian Club. I am thinking and thinking how to
get new monetary means for our
field
work in 1894, but as yet do not see, where it is to come from. There seem few soal
in all Australia who can enter on our subjects with a clear conception and generous
impulse. But we must not despair. If I had only some leisure, I might succeed better.
Let us have a Council-meeting at your Office towards the end of the month

M had been 'invited to become' an Honorary Vice-President of the forthcoming sixth international Geographical Congress to be held in London in August 1895 (Keltie & Mill (1896), p. 5). The invitation letter has not been found but is alluded to in M to A. Macdonald, 22 January 1894; Keltie and Mill (1896), p. xvi, imply that the vice-president invitations were sent with, or near the time of, the distribution of the preliminary circular sent
to all geographical societies in November 1893.
