Annotated in lead pencil by Daniel Oliver: is already on stone, tab. 2303 Ic. Pl., - for the next part. We found it necessary to prepare one figure indepenty. of the drawing sent to us by Sir F.v. Mueller. D.O.
The plate did not appear until May 1894, in Oliver (1891-5), vol. 24, part 1. In his commentary Oliver wrote: ‘we find the [ovules] 6 to 8 in number, as they are also represented by Herr Eckert, in an elaborate drawing of the plant communicated by Sir F. v. Mueller’.
How strange, - I never learnt of the bestowal, so worthily, of the Linnean Medal on Prof Oliver,
