Da Sie, hochgeehrter Freund, die Rubiaceen Süd-Amerikas bearbeitet haben, möchte ich Sie bitten, mir zu sagen, ob das Genus HBK. Bestand hat. J Hooker kannte es ja nur aus der Abbildung. Martius Fl. Brasiliana ist hier nicht vorhanden, ausgenommen einige wenige Theile in meiner Bibliothek.

Ich fühle mich Ihnen wieder verpflichtet für lichenologische Druckschriften. Ihre Arbeitskraft bleibt ungeschwächt. Möchte doch, ehe solche im späten Herbst Ihres Lebens sinkt nur wenigstens eine Synopsis aller Lichenen der Erde von Ihnen noch verlangen nach Ihren unvergleichlichen Erfahrungen.

I would like to ask you to tell me whether the genus HBK. is permanent. J. Hooker knew it just from the figure. Martius Flora Brasiliana is not available here, except some few parts in my library.

I again feel myself indebted to you for lichenological papers. Your capacity for work remains undiminished. But before it sinks in the late autumn of your life, I would just like to ask again at least for a synopsis of all lichens of the world by you from your incomparable experiences.
