You will have thought me very ungrateful, dear Miss Henley, for not having as yet
acknowledged your kindly sending again this time of a splendid contribution to the
Field Naturalists flower-show.
But I have been so ill, that I could even not proceed to Adelaide for attending to
duties, allotted to me at the Australian Association for advancement of science;
and this was the first time that I missed attending at the shows of native flowers.
I trust, you will under these circumstances excuse my short-coming.
1
Henley contributed to M's exhibit at the meeting of the Field Naturalists' Club of
Victoria held on 9 October1893 (Victorian naturalist, vol. 10, p. 102).
2
The fifth congress of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science,
held in Adelaide, September 1893.
With grateful remembrance your
Ferd von Mueller.
