Letter not found. The text given here is from Horsham times, 27 October 1893, p. [2], col. g. The newspaper was published twice a week, and on the assumption that the article would have been published as soon as the specimen was received, it has been dated to the day before the previous issue was published as the earliest likely date.
The extract is preceded by an account of a weed said by local farmers to do a 'deal of harm on grass lands, but is eradicated by cultivation'.
[We have forwarded the sample of weed submitted to us to Baron Von Mueller, and will be able probably, in our next issue, to give that learned botanist's opinion on the matter.]

No report of M's opinion has been found in subsequent issues, but see M to Australsian, 6 November 1893 (in this edition as 93-11-06b), for a probable identification of the weed.
