This list comprises two single sheets of foolscap, on one side only of each sheet. The second sheet commences at no. 267. There is nothing to show that the two sheets were drawn up at the same time, apart from the continuity in the numbering of the specimens. No. 258 is not in MEL. Specimens 259-267 were collected on 7 September 1893 at Hergott Springs (now Marree, SA). The other collections are undated and were collected near Milang (249-252), or Mt Brown at the southern end of the Flinders ranges (248, 254, 255, with 257 nearby), with no location given for 253 (AVH, accessed 19 February 2022). Gill is known to have visited Mt Brown in April 1892 and February 1893, and was in Milang in August 1892 (various SA newspaper reports). Thus, if the undated specimens were sent together, they probably cover a wide date range, and may well have been included with the numbered set.
It is probable that the numbered specimens were packed and sent soon after Gill returned to Adelaide on 16 September 1893 (Australische Zeitung (Adelaide), 20 September 1883, p. 3). It is unlikely that M would have received them and commented until eary October, and the list is dated accordingly.

Species of this genus are very difficult to name, if the fruit (ripe) is not available. Perhaps you would be able to get it of this species.

I gathered this at the same place in April 1848 .

The only specimen collected by M of this species at MEL ( MEL 2243551, under the name Acrotriche cordata) is undated but is clearly from soon after M's arrival in Australia because he uses German-style letters in writing the label, 'Acrotriche cordata RBr | South Australia', rather than the style he later developed for writing in English, and he gave his name as collector as 'Dr Ferd. Muller'.
