[On Monday, Mr. M. Holtze, director of the Botanical Gardens, received a telegram from Sir Ferdinand von Mueller, F.R.S., Government Botanist of Victoria, who was to have been his guest during the currency of the sittings of the Association for the Advancement of Science, stating that a severe attack of illness has prevented him from leaving Melbourne. Baron von Mueller, who is 68 years of age, has been suffering lately from bronchial catarrh, and in consequence had expressly stipulated that no paper should be expected from him, while it was his intention only to remain in Adelaide from Tuesday until Friday of this week. Now the distinguished scientist will not be able to put in an appearance at all, much to the regret of all connected with the gathering.]
