The work of our lamented friend
on Orchids, dear Mr Deane, is such a special feature in the scientific litterature of N.SW., that I would not for a moment think, that
no
one
outside
of
your
colony
should be directly connected with the continuation of this superb work. Whatever help
I
may be called on, to give, will be afforded
to
you
unconditionally
and gladly. It is a happy event, that the editorship has fallen on
yourself
, more especially so as you are also the head of a
branch
of the public
service of N.S.W.

R. D. Fitzgerald.
No delay will occur in my furnishing notes, as that can in each instance take up but
little time. I presume, you will send me a proof-plate of each species, so soon as
any is so far done. The memory of Mr Fitzgerald is so dear to me, that I should on
that account alone say nothing which possibly could give umbrage My name need not
appear in any other way than quotation. Even that would not be necessary, had I not
to watch the interest of the branch of the Gov. service, entrusted to my care. Always
with regardful remembrance your
Ferd. von Mueller.
Prasophyllum Frenchii is described in Vict. Naturalist of Dec. 1889.
