Letter not found. For the text given here, see 'Eextracts from the Minutes', Report of the fifth meeting of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science, p. xxi (B94.13.10). It is introduced by '[Baron Von Mueller telegraphed —'.
M's telegram was read at a meeting of the Association’s General Council, 3 October 1893. M had telegraphed stating that he was too ill to attend the meeting; see M to M. Holtze, 25 September 1893 (in this edition as 93-09-25c). It is likely that after the General Council held its first meeting on 26 September, a telegram of best wishes was sent to M, and this reply is likely to have been sent on its receipt or soon after.
Gratefully appreciate sympathy expressed by the Australasian Association. I offer the best felicitations at the splendid prospects of the Adelaide meeting, which again will be of lasting prominence in the history of Australian Science.
