Have just written, dear Dr Dyer, to Dr Joseph Bancroft,
urging that he and the hon Aug Gregory aid Mr Bailey through his difficulty.
Had just a letter from Bailey.
He ought all the more be helped, as in 1894 the Austral. Assoc is to meet in Brisbane.
Have little to send by this mail.

to W. Thiselton-Dyer, 17 October 1893, reporting his dismissal (ff. 46-7); 'The Parliamentary
Debates, Queensland First Session of the Eleventh Parliament', 5 October 1893, on
which sections concerning the colonial botanist are marked in red (ff. 48-9); a draft
of a letter of regret at Bailey’s dismissal from W. Thiselton-Dyer to the Permanent
Secretary of the Colonial Office, 15 December 1893 (ff. 51-2); a letter F. Bailey
to W. Thiselton-Dyer, 7 February 1894, thanking him for his critical support in having
the post reinstated from 1 January 1894, albeit at a reduced salary (ff. 53–4); and
a clipping commenting on M’s death , contrasting the Victorian Government’s treatment
of M during its financial crisis with the way Bailey was treated by Queensland (f.
50).
