The letter is date-stamped '12 APR. 93', indicating that it was 'received' at the meeting of the Borough Council on 12 April 1893. It was not mentioned on the business paper for the meeting but was probably treated as a supplement to an item listed among the inward correspondence, 'From Baron Von Mueller forwarding grass seeds' (letter not found); the newspaper report of the meeting referred to the item as 're fodder grasses' (Portland guardian, 14 April 1893, p. 3). Joseph Henry was the Town Lerk

Dear Sir
Doubtless also in the Mechanics Inst. Library of Portland is a copy of my work on "Select plants for industrial culture"; in this book you will find also an account of the Coapim-Grass (Panicum spectabile).

This inexpensive and plain work is also purchasable for some few shillings at the Gov Printing Office of Melbourne.
