Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Funeral of the late Dr. Woolls', Sydney morning herald, 16 March 1893, p. 5. The text is introduced by: 'Mr. J. H. Maiden of the Technological Museum, received the following telegram from Melbourne from Baron von Mueller:—'.
The text was quoted in Gilbert (1985). p. 107, and was reprinted in a number of newspaper accounts of Woolls's funeral.
Inexpressibly grieved at sudden death of dear friend Rev. Dr. Woolls. Pray convey deepest condolence to widow. Am too unwell to attend funeral; please represent me.
