Sehr hochverehter Hr Baron!
Ihnen zuvörderst m. besten Wünschen für Ihr Wohlergehen im neuen Jahre darbringend,
bitte ich Ihnen bestens zu danken für die letzthin zugesandten Separate neuer Pflanzen,
welche Zeugniss für Ihren unermüdlichen Eifer in Förderung der Wissenschaft ablegen,
trotzdem, dass derselben oft so schlecht durch die unwissenden politischen Häuptlinge
anerkannt wird.
Sodann möchte ich bitten, mir, wenn möglich, den Namen der beigelegten Pflanze mitzuteilen.
Dieselbe wurde von einem der Teilnehmer an einer Field Naturalist Excursion ganz lokal
in der Nähe der Torrens Gorge gefunden. Leider sind mir nur kleine Spezimente zugekommen,
u. wenig davon. Ich kann diese Pflanze mit keinen der Cryptandren identifiziren, die
Prof. Tate in seinem Census für S. A. aufgeführt hat. Auch scheint mir keine von Bentham's
Beschreibungen ganz darauf zu passen. Die Blühthenstände sind nie terminal, sondern
axilar zur Hauptachse, welche weit [dann] hervorwächst.

First and foremost offering you my best wishes for your welfare in the New Year, I
thank you very warmly for the recently sent separates of new plants, which bear testimony
to your tireless enthusiasm in promotion of science, even though it is often so poorly
acknowledged by the unscientific political chieftains.
Then I would like to ask you, if possible, to tell me the name of the enclosed plant.
It was found quite locally in the vicinity of the Torrens Gorge by one of the participants
in a Field Naturalist excursion. Unfortunately only small specimens came to me and
few of them. I cannot identify this plant with any of the
e that Professor Tate has listed in his Census for South Australia. Also it seems
to me none of Bentham's descriptions quite fit it.
The peduncles are never terminal but axillary to the main axis, which shoots out
