Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Answers to correspondents', Leader, 11 February 1893, p. 10. Since it had evidently been intended to publish a reply, including M’s report on the specimen sent to him, in an earlier issue of the journal, i.e. at the latest in the issue of 4 February, M’s report has been dated to January 1893. 'E. Cumming' not identified.
