To Baron Von Muller
Botanist &c
Dear Sir
I beg to forward with this letter a parcel of herbs which grows in great quantity
in several parts of this colony, and which is used a great deal by the farming people
in the country as a summer drink especially in — harvest time. I would therefore be
glad to hear from you if there is any Medicinal properties in it. I have drank many
quarts of it and found very good effect from it,
There is enough in this packet, I send you, to make one quart as we drink it here,
and our mode of making it is by putting in a pot with the cold water and let it come
gradually to the boil and boil for one hour slowly then strain and bottle
An early reply will oblige
Your's faithfully
John McGovern
